I came to Stuart feeling pretty lost about my next career steps. My previous role had shaken my confidence, and I wasn’t sure where I wanted to fit in companies anymore. I wanted to figure out not just what roles I might enjoy, but also how to find them.

Stuart's coaching has helped me in a way that no testimonial could ever do justice to, but I will try. I spoke to Stuart about looking for a new role and more particularly having a look at my CV to decipher where I am hitting a roadblock with applications. I'm not a confident person, and even though I'm proud of my qualifications I always find it difficult to market myself. Of course, moving to a new country with a different language didn't help my problem. I was so focused on my differences in a negative way, but he helped me to understand that I can use my differences good account.

He told me many times "Don't force yourself to believe in yourself, use the facts." Here's a fact about him: I enrolled in the coaching program to seek a job in a new field as a beginner, because I was convinced that I can't use my experiences in London. Working with Stuart as a career coach, advisor and source of support has been an invaluable experience. After moving to the UK from the US and after many months of unsuccessfully searching for work, my sense of self-worth was the lowest it had been in a long time.

Stuart and I discussed recognising my unique personal and professional experiences, and the ways that these set me apart from anyone else. This helped me to shift my internal narrative from “I’m not getting interviews or job offers, so I must not be good enough” to “How can I effectively communicate the things that make me a great candidate?” This resulted in a sense of empowerment and control over my future. I also felt reinvigorated in my search for interesting roles that aligned with my passion and values, rather than hoping that someone somewhere would hire me for any job. Our regular check-ins through my job search were a great help in processing the time since our last talk, organising my thoughts, and creating tangible next steps. Stuart was also very flexible and fit me into his schedule even when his diary was fully booked. This made me feel genuinely cared for as a complete person rather than a work obligation or a number. At the same time, he works with many other clients, each of whom I can confidently assume experience this same dynamic. 

Throughout this process, Stuart has been knowledgeable and personable. Evidence-based job search strategies (creating an achievement-based CV etc.) are interwoven with conversations about personal life and interests, all with a good amount of humour. I received a job offer recently and could tell that Stuart was genuinely very happy for me when I shared the news with him. 

If I had to pick between an incredibly knowledgeable but detached coach and someone less knowledgeable but supportive and invested in me and my process, I would pick the latter. The good news is that I did not have to pick. Stuart uses his many years of work and thousands of client experiences to create a person-centred dynamic, aimed at helping people move towards the future they want. I would recommend his help to anyone!

I would like to write this with regards to the incredible assistance I have received from Stuart over the past weeks we have been working together. Stuart's expertise, acumen, knowledge and practice of the area of employment we have been working on have been truly outstanding.
